I
am an economist in Washington, DC. and the lead author of the
2007
Index
of Economic Freedom, soon to be replaced the 2008
edition which I helped assemble as well.
I
am working to get John
McCain elected President as one of his campaign's
economic advisors. I wagered a small amount on his victory
in the Republican primary - see
the results of political markets here.
Quick
Bio: I had a few adventures in the U.S. Air Force in the early
90s and a few more adventures in high tech startups
in the late 90s. My
bio is here. I was briefly a professor of
economics and a one-time candidate for the U.S. Congress. I
am happily married and also happily a father of four children.
Currently,
I spend quite a bit of time writing and thinking about three
things: (1) the future of technology, globalization, and the
U.S. workforce, (2) troops in the U.S. military and their impact
on the world, and (3) the greatest innovation of my generation:
the Internet, and its evolution.
Many
innovations on the Internet allow people to stay in touch automatically,
which seems to me to have greater socio-cultural implications
than any other new technology. Besides, I enjoy current news
about friends. Here a few that I have found the most useful
...
My
Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=500076016
- this has a few recent photos of the family, updated contact
info, links to other friends, and a platform for applications
such as the books I am reading. Very cool.
My
Blog at Blogger.com - another innovative company that extneds
the usability of communications technology.
